Hello world!
September 27, 2008Hello, I am an eighth grade mathematics teacher who is entering the world of blogging for a graduate class assignment. I have enjoyed teaching middle school for the past six years and when I am not teaching I try to be outdoors. The three top things I’d rather be doing are motorcycle riding, hiking, or Frisbee golfing.
By taking on online mathematics course I hope to be able to steal some new ideas from other math teachers that will make my classes more relevant to my students. I am also hoping to find an easier way to use technology in the mathematics classroom. I would like start using PowerPoint and would love to have a smart board and be able to upload class notes to Edline for my students to access.
I agree with you about using technology in the math classroom. There are so many great resources out there that can get kids attention and kep them interested and learning. I am blessed to have a small Smartboard in my room and am excited about putting it to use with new sites we learn about in this course. We also have a traveling cart with a projector and laptop that teachers can sign out and use. It’s a great tool if you have alimited budget.

Bryan,
I also want to learn new ways to use technology in the classroom. I just got a smartboard in my classroom this year, and I absolutely love it! I use it every day and the kids are so much more involoved. I, too, want to utilize Edline more. We now have the option of posting online assignments to Edline and I want to be able to use that as well.

Bryan,
Using technology in the class needs to happen! Our students are so tech savvy that we have to incorporate new strategies that include technology into our classroom. There are some really cool things out there!!
